Landscape self-portrait of Nathan, smiling, swimming in an alpine lake. Teal water ripples outwards towards the shore where tall trees line horizon in front of a semi-clouded blue sky.

Who I am

I’m Nathan (he/him) and I love to take photos. I’m a guest of settler descent living on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) - aka ‘Vancouver, BC’.

I first started taking photos with a Fujifilm Instax back in middle school. I loved the nostalgia and the magic of a tangible instantaneous memory. I dabble with digital photography but I have way more fun on film- there’s something special about not knowing how the shot will turn out. I currently use a second-hand Cannon EOS 5 on an old 28-135mm lens.

I am Canadian by nationality but grew up in the deserts of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. I came to Vancouver for university where I studied Human Geography and the relationships between people and place, an integral concept in my work.
